How to draw on screen while streaming on Mac (OBS)
Circle the play, point at the bug, sketch the plan. Here's how to draw on your Mac's screen live in OBS, and the one capture setting that decides whether viewers see it.
Use a Display Capture source in OBS (macOS Screen Capture › Method: Display Capture), then draw with JellyDraw over whatever you're showing. Window and Application capture only record the app you pick, so a drawing layer from another app usually won't appear.
Set up OBS to show your drawings
- Add a macOS Screen Capture source. In OBS, click + under Sources and choose macOS Screen Capture.
- Set Method to Display Capture. Pick the display you'll draw on. Display Capture records everything on that screen, including JellyDraw's drawings.
- Grant permissions. OBS needs Screen Recording permission to capture. JellyDraw only needs Accessibility, to follow your windows.
- Draw live. Press ⌃⌥⌘Space and draw over your game, browser, code or slides. Viewers see it as you draw.
- Optional: crop to one area. Hold Option and drag the edges of the source in the OBS preview to crop it to the part of the screen you want to show.

Tips for streamers
- Use a second display for chat and OBS, and capture only the screen you draw on.
- Keep marks on their window. Circle something in your browser, switch to your editor, come back: JellyDraw keeps each window's drawings with that window.
- Watch your crop. If you crop OBS to one area and then drag a window out of it, the window and its drawings leave the shot too.
- Use the highlighter on text so chat can still read it.
- Whiteboard mode gives you a blank page to sketch a plan or explain a concept mid-stream.

Why don't my drawings show up in OBS on Mac?
You're probably using Window Capture or Application Capture, which only record the app you choose. Switch the macOS Screen Capture source to Display Capture.
